Thomas David Heaton is an English professional football player who plays for Premier League club Aston Villa and the England national team as a goalkeeper. He started playing football for the youth team of Wrexham. In 2002, he moved to the youth team of Manchester United and began his career with Manchester United but was unable to break into the first team and spent time on loan with Swindon Town, Royal Antwerp, Cardiff City, Queens Park Ranger, Rochdale, and Wycombe Wanderers. After his release by Manchester United, on 1 July 2010, he joined Cardiff City permanently where he made 29 appearances for the club. In 2012, he then joined Bristol City on a one-year deal with an option for a further 12 months and made his debut for the club on 18 August 2012. In May 2013, he joined Burnley after turning down a further one-year deal at Bristol City. After playing six years at Burnley, on 1 August 2019, he signed for newly-promoted Premier League club Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee, believed to be £8 million. He made his debut for the club on 10 August 2019.
