Her roles include the films Ithaca, Love the Coopers, Life of the Party (2018), Booksmart, Good Boys, Shiva Baby, The Broken Hearts Gallery, You People, and Theater Camp, and television’s Animal Kingdom, Our Cartoon President, Ramy, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, and The Bear. She also co-directed and co-wrote Theater Camp.
She is the daughter of Jessie Nelson, a producer, director, and screenwriter, and Bryan Gordon, a director, writer, and producer. Her aunt, Davia Nelson, is one of The Kitchen Sisters, who are radio producers.
Molly’s paternal grandfather was named Lewis/Louis Allen Gordon (the son of Arron Gordon and Fannie). Lewis was born in Maryland, to Russian Jewish parents.
