Minnesota quarterback Tanner Morgan will be taken to a medical center following an injury he sustained during the Gophers’ 26-14 loss to Illinois on Saturday, Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck said on KFAN Sports Radio after the game.
“It’s unfortunate,” Fleck said. “He’s such a competitor and that was a pretty violent hit, you know, as he went into the ground, and you know, I thought our staff did an amazing job springing into action. But they’re going to get him the best care, I know that, and that’s all I have at this time.”

The team has not announced the nature or extent of the injury.
Morgan went down after taking off for a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter, then walked off on his own power and headed straight to the injury tent. He was 4-of-12 passing for 21 yards and an interception. Athan Kaliakmanis, who came in for Morgan, was 2-of-6 passing for 17 yards and two interceptions.
Illinois coach Bret Bielema offered prayers to Morgan postgame.
