Matt Roberts, best known as an ex-guitarist for an American rock band 3 Doors Down, was found dead in his hotel room at the age of 38.
Even though the official death reason has not been confirmed yet. It is believed the musician died of a drug overdose. Matt’s father Darrell told TMZ he and Matt were staying at a hotel in Milwaukee, where his son had been rehearsing for a charity show on Saturday.
Detectives informed Darrell of his son’s death at 9 am on Saturday morning. He passed away overnight. Matt’s father also mentioned that prescription pills were involved. However, he believes that the possible overdose was accidental.
Matt Roberts was one of the three founding members of 3 Doors Down. Unfortunately, he left the band in 2012 due to health issues.
“3 Doors Down will always have a special place in my heart and it saddens me to take this time off, but my health has to be my first priority.” – said Roberts
The band shot to fame with their debut album “The better life”, with hit songs such as “Kryptonite” and “Duck And Run”. They have sold over 20 million album worldwide and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart.
