Carter was a standout football player at Apopka High School in Apopka, Florida. He racked up 73 tackles as a senior in 2019, including 15 tackles for a loss and 8 sacks, earning him All-State and All-Central Florida recognition.
After graduating from high school, Carter received numerous offers to play collegiate football, and he ultimately chose the University of Georgia. He began attending Georgia in 2020, and as a true freshman, he had an immediate impact on the Bulldogs’ defensive line.
In the abbreviated 2020 season, he appeared in all ten games, earning 22 tackles, four tackles for loss, and four quarterback pressures.
Carter excelled for the Bulldogs in his sophomore season in 2021. The Associated Press recognized him First-Team All-SEC, while the Walter Camp Football Foundation awarded him Second-Team All-America. In 13 games, he had 39 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.
Carter, who stands 6’3″ and weighs 305 pounds, is recognized for his stature and athleticism. He is regarded as one of the top defensive line prospects in college football and is likely to be a first-round choice in the NFL draft when he becomes eligible.
