It’s the interview that no one can stop talking about: Jennifer Aniston finally takes off the gloves and gets real about her feelings regarding Angelina Jolie in the December issue of Vogue. Actually, most of the interview is focused on her new movies, her family, and her rekindled romance with John Mayer. But there’s one passage of the interview that’s been making some waves, where she lets it rip on Angelina Jolie. Specifically, Aniston responds to Jolie’s Vogue interview in 2007 in which she said she’d love to “sit down” with Aniston, as well as previous interviews- conducted while Brad Pitt was still married to and living with Jennifer- in which Jolie gushed about how she “couldn’t wait to get to work everyday” on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Aniston called that “really uncool.” By the response these two words received, you’d think she called for the tarring and feathering of Jolie. Well, the controversy hasn’t been lost on Brad Pitt, who is reportedly upset about the interview and has complained to his ex-wife’s publicity people.
The new Vogue magazine interview with Jennifer Aniston has again revived chatter about the breakup of the actress’ marriage to Brad Pitt.
Though the former ”Friends” superstar has universally — and justifiably — been seen as a victim of Angelina Jolie stealing her man, a source close to the Brangelina camp says Aniston’s ex-husband called her to complain about the Vogue piece.
I know, that call seems unbelievable — given Aniston went out of her way to praise Pitt, saying she and the actor are on good terms now and that she has ”nothing but absolute admiration for him.”
One would have to assume Pitt’s irritation was due to Aniston’s comment that it was ”uncool” Jolie came clean about falling in love with her married co-star in ”Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”
But still, it was Pitt who cheated on Aniston — leading to a horribly public split that was clearly humiliating for the popular actress.
Another source, close to Jolie, said Wednesday that Pitt and Jolie were ”totally thrown” by Aniston’s Vogue interview, thinking she had already ”moved on … and wouldn’t want to reopen this old wound.”
At any rate, Aniston’s spokesman is not commenting on the alleged Pitt call to Aniston, simply e-mailing, ”That’s personal information. … That really is no one’s business.”
Notice the non-denial there? It totally happened! I certainly understand Brad’s instinct to protect the mother of his children. It’s clear where his alliance is, and it makes sense. However, I think Brad’s got a lot of nerve in this instance. He has no right to dictate what Jennifer says or does anymore. And let’s not forget that it was Angelina who brought up falling in love with him on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith in a recent New York Times interview – after Brad went to great pains to tell the world that he and Jolie were nothing more than friends until after the movie shoot was over. Jennifer was merely responding to a reporter’s question about those statements -with two incredibly restrained words. If anyone reopened old wounds, I’d say it was Jolie.
